In the last month we’ve had 3 members of the WEDIDIT COLLECTIVE which started with RL Grime opening for Lunice September 13th at Fortune and Ryan Hemsworth Sept 21st at The Waldorf Hotel, to finish it all off we’ve got the amazing R&B influenced Shlohmo at again The Waldorf TOMORROW. I had the pleasure of meeting RL Grime after his performance at Fortune and admired Ryan’s set from a far, both being pretty high on the best sets i’ve seen this year. This group of what seems friends have tackled mainstream songs that are in a way really easy to ruin and made them better or put on their on flavour into it which is never dissapointing. They’ve tore downnnn the infamous BoilerRoom in LA which included Young Adults, RL Grime, GROUNDISLAVA, LOL BOYS, SALVA and SHLOHMO, click the links to check out their sets. In the last year I’ve opened my mind to different types music as much as possible so that I can take everything in and just overall grow as a musician. This group was easily one of the best internet-blog searching-different finds I’ve had. They have remixed songs that I personally love and made them better or different in the best way possible, these types of up&coming artists inspire me the most because of the talent, feel and vibe they have as a group with still standing out individually. I’ve bougth Ryan’s Last Words still being played atleast once a day, Shlohmo’s “Bad Vibes” is quite the perfect album to hear while hazin’ and I’m currently finishing a mix which includes RL’s “Trap On Acid” & “Art Money”. What I’m trying to say is that they are MOST DEF something to check out, you’ll be surprised by how much talent these cats have. On another note the local acts Cyril Hahn and the FALCONS are opening for him, Cyril’s Destiny’s Child “Say My Name” Remix was featured on Annie Mac’s show on BBC1 Radio which was suggested by Romy from The XX who just played here, you can check that out here. After I knew about this I had without knowing it heard all of his remixes from other artists sets, the interesting point was that he’s a local artist getting amazing props from one of the most recognized radio host/DJ’s in the industry. He just released this mix about 7 hours ago which includes his most recognized remixes and other songs that fit in perfectly with his type of vibe and sound, check THAT out here. Pheuwww… sorry to have stacked all of this info on all of you but I had intended to share about this show and group of artists weeks ago but school has taken passenger seat for most of my time. Hopefully I can make it out to this show but you never know, if you are free, have nothing to do, want to dance and share a moment come down to the Waldorf cause it’s going to be an amazing night.
